Ok so once again I need to apologize for not writing on this blog for a while….. (Short Break)

Ok  I’m back I just had to figure out how to download an ebook from my library. I haven’t done it for a while and I needed to reinstall the Overdrive app on my iPhone to do it! Anyway I did it and just now downloaded the book! Now the question becomes do I want to read The Perfect Assassin, book one in the David Slator series from Ward Larsen first, or continue Assassin’s Silence book three in the series, that I checked out of the library yesterday!! Can you say too many books to little time!! oh, well, I think book one has to come first!! read more

Ok so I haven’t written anything here in a very long time! One of the reasons is that I switched and started posting more at my original website Me, Myself, Music and Mysteries, and most recently I decided that I was going to focus more on the books that I read, so I started a new website This Man Reads. The second reason is last year I sucked at turning my biological clock backwards. In actuality, I think the clocks moved faster last year! Ok so today I am in a blue mood, sad and slightly depressed. The depression stems partially from the fact that I feel that I have done little over the last several months to turn back my biologic clock. Additionally, I have not written much here on my blog and the longer I go without writing the less I want to write anything.So I think it’s time to make some changes and set some new mini-goals. read more

So this week I’m bound and determined to do better with both my exercising and my diet. I know you’ve heard that a lot in 2016, but the other day I got on the scale and my weight was a lot higher than I want it to be! And the pants that I wear to work and Target must have shrunk because the button popped off! yeah right! Any way that means I need to get serious with my diet, no glazed apple pies at night or other cake type snacks! I think it’s time to break out the Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow Cooker and 5 Essentials for a Winning Life from Chris Carmichael and pick out some old favorites or new recipes to try to go shopping! Hmm? I also have put a lot of  cookbooks on the Kindle that were either free or 99 cents. Maybe it’s time to check out a few of those books! read more

So having a wicked cold and babysitting all week does not mix well with trying to blog .I think that the cold had more to do with it than babysitting because three out of the four days I babysat this week were with Zoe and that’s a cake job and then on Friday Oliver and I had a pretty good time together! So other than occupying my time that didn’t babysitting wasn’t the reason that I haven’t written anything since Tuesday, I do believe that the constant coughing and not getting a good night’s rest had more to do with it!! But anyway here I am on a blizzard Saturday trying to catch up!! read more

Granddad tackles his Cholesterol Levels….

and discovers why even though he was running those pounds weren’t melting away!

So last week after I looked at the results from my recent yearly blood testing, I decided it was time to get back to eating better. Over the last many months while my diet has not been horrible, there have been certain things that have been missing. First, the strawberries, blueberries and walnuts! Most days I used to have cereal with blueberries, oatmeal with extra raisins and walnuts or vanilla yogurt with strawberries and walnuts for breakfast, but somehow I stopped that many months ago. Lately two days a week my breakfast has been sausage egg and cheese on a croissant shared with Oliver (he eats mostly the croissant). Hum, they may just have a tiny effect on my cholesterol levels!! Those and the Sara Lee Chocolate Cupcakes and the Chips Ahoy Cookies I may occasionally gobble down don’t help either!! You get the point, it’s time to start eating better!! read more

And Some Dietary Changes May Be in Order…..

So this week I finally got around to having my yearly EKG and blood work done. I am only about three months late in doing so! Part of the reason is that I know, that I while I have been running and walking, I really haven’t been eating, as well as I have in the past. Unfortunately, the test results have confirmed my suspicions! While the numbers are still acceptable and result in a below average risk, I still want them to be better. read more

Happiness and Diet reads from the Library!

Checked Out – Books on Sustainable Happiness, The Burn Diet and Grain and Your Brain!!

So yesterday I had to take a book back to the library that my daughter had at college.  The book was due back in early September and the library was now charging me for the book and had suspended my borrowing privileges. But now they have the book back and all is forgiven and things are back to normal!

I did well through the new fiction books, as I didn’t get anything new to read.There were a couple of books that peaked me interest, but I’ll save them for another time. However, I didn’t make it through the nonfiction books though without picking up a few books! read more

I was all ready to have some Archer Farms Korean Barbecue for lunch, until I went to Wikipedia to see what was happening outside of my world today! What I discovered is that today is World Vegan Day and the start of World Vegan Month! So Korean Barbecue didn’t seem quite right fork today.Luckily I still had a vegan meal in the cabinet….Punjab Choley! Weekend Update!

This was the Week that Was …..

Here’s a quick weekend update…..You know  I always disagreed with those who somehow thought that being a stay-at-home mom is all bon-bons, talk shows and soap operas. Those who think that somehow it isn’t as hard a “man’s” work day!  And you know it isn’t, as hard, it’s harder!! Last week my wife went with me on the day we babysat Oliver and when we were coming how she said “You know I think that I would have been easier to go to work” Just babysitting Oliver and Zoe is hard enough, if I had to throw in the laundry, cooking and all the other household chores I know that I’d be conking out at about the same time that they do at night!! read more
