A Struggling 3.25 Mile Run is  Better Than No Run – July 19, 2017

As I  sit here now (12:19 pm) I see that the current temperature is 90 degrees and it’s very, very sunny. So I know that I made the right decision about running this morning. But it was a bit of a struggle to get out the door. The whiny, heat hating me said, “But it’s still going to be hot running, even though it’s 75 now. You know the sun is going to be hot!” The good me said “I know that so what I’m going to do is once again alter my course a little more to get a few more blocks of shade into the run!” The whiny me said “Okay you win!” read more

July 15 – Three Runs in One Week! Yeah Me! Life’s Little Victories!

The Run

Ah, this morning temperatures were in the low 70s and it was cloudy a good morning for a run. And it was,but there was one thing that I forgot! That one thing was that the relative humidity was relatively high! That for someone like me who sweats at the drop of a heat is not a good thing. My first thoughts about the run were that I would run my most hilly four mile run. But that thought went out the window after the first mile. May second, thought was maybe I’d run my four mile Creek out and back 4 mile run. read more

A Three – Mile Morning  Run Because It’s Hot and I’m Old!

July 12 th – A Three – Mile Morning  Run Because It’s Hot and I’m Old!

Ok so this morning when I checked the weather it was sunny and almost 80 degrees. The forecast is that temperatures will climb into the low 90s today. It would not have taken much to convince myself not to run! But I fought the impulse to do that. Rather I decided that the best idea was to shorten my run to around three miles. Additionally, I decided to plot out a course that would maximize shade! The final thing I needed to do was to tell myself to take it easy! read more

Today’s Run : July 9, 2017 – Four Miles – a struggle over the last mile

The temperature was right around seventy  degrees this morning so I decided it was a good day for a run. Looking back at my posts,I see that the last run I wrote about was way back on June 8th. Just because I haven’t posted, doesn’t mean I haven’t been running. While I haven’t been running as much as I should, I did run four more times in June  Here are the results…. read more

A Very Strong Second Comeback Run Minus the Music

How could I not run on Global Runnig Day!

Ok so last night was my second comeback run and my second run of the week. The last one was ok and there has been no major pain. just the normal little soreness you can expect after not running for a while. I decided that I would run a route that is a little over 3 miles long. It is a loop run with only one small hill near the end of the run.

I had planned to use Selwyn Burchwood’s latest release Pick Your Poison as the soundtrack for the run. However I have been using my old  iPhone On my runs because I still do not haven’t  a case for my new iPhone. Anyway the old iPhone wouldn’t download any songs. Therefore I went old school and ran without music. read more

March 13 – Running Update

The Movings…..

So the last two weeks have been kinds busy. Two Saturdays ago, my son Peter and his family, wife Missy and daughter Zoe moved out of Missy’s parents house and into a new apartment. The apartment is right in Riverside and is a small commercial strip of stores that have been renovated and converted into six really nice apartments.

After we moved Peter in my daughter Elizabeth who lives with us decided that she too would like to move into the apartments. Peter and Missy have rented a three apartment. It is the largest of the six apartments. Elizabeth wanted a two bedroom apartment and one of the ones that is on the second floor. read more

A New Year – Back to the Basics and Running!

Renaissance Granddad Returns to an Old Workout and Starts Running Again!!

Ok so I haven’t written anything here in a very long time! One of the reasons is that I switched and started posting more at my original website Me, Myself, Music and Mysteries, and most recently I decided that I was going to focus more on the books that I read, so I started a new website This Man Reads. The second reason is last year I sucked at turning my biological clock backwards. In actuality, I think the clocks moved faster last year! Anyway, I have vowed to do better this year.  So far that is happening and hence this post!! read more

Donald Byrd + Junior Wells’ Music = Great Run!!

The Run – Harper Loop – 4.25 miles

So how could I not run when the temperature is in the  60s in December! I was waffling earlier yesterday afternoon, but I did finally decide that the weather was just to nice to pass up! I decided that I would run the Harper Loop. I figured that the run up Pancoast would be a good  training challenge, but the main reason was that I can complete the run without crossing any main roads. read more

The Run – November 12, 2015 – Creek Out and Back

Being the fair-weather runner that I am, I was a little concerned on Thursday, when I could see that it was raining in the morning. I thought that maybe my run would be washed out like it was on Tuesday. But the front moved through and by the time I was ready to run at around 4 o’clock it was cloudy but not raining. I decided that I would run my Creek Out and Back since it was getting close to dark and that course crosses only one main street and it is an easy run, which fit well with a day that started a 7 am at Target!! read more

The Newpart – April Verch and a Fast Mile!

The Run: Tuesday, November 3, 2015 – Four Miles

So the good news from  Tuesday’s run was that I ran my fastest mile of the year a 9:42 mile! The better news was that it was the fourth mile of a four mile run and came after a 10:21 mile!! So even though I just missed going under 40 minutes for the total time for the run was 40:25, it was still a great run. Here are the mile splits: Mile 1 10:05 /mile, Mile 2 10:11 /mile, Mile 3 10:21 /mile and Mile 4 9:42 /mile. read more
